In the 20th century, reading and writing were the core literacies. In the 21st century, AI literacy joins them. Students who understand how AI works — its capabilities, limitations, and risks — will have a decisive advantage in every field.
This paper argues for making AI literacy a mandatory part of secondary education, alongside mathematics and English.
